When I was a little girl if you asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would have said, “Professional Singer”. I would not have wanted to be married or be an entrepreneur. I wanted to be single, free, and pursue my singing career on Broadway. That was my dream!
Here I am, 30 years later, writing a blog post for my personal coaching website, “I am Pamela”. How did I get to this place in my life? How did I start helping people live a more balanced life? What was the path that lead me here? Why do I want to talk to all kinds of people, get to know their story, feel empathy, and help them find solutions to something that they want to change or achieve?
When we think we should know what we want to do when we grow up, or think we should have a certain passion to do one thing or the other, well, I don’t know if it is that simple. Is it passion, circumstance, timing, or plain luck that leads us in a certain direction? I do know that for me it has been a combination of many experiences that has lead me to where I am today. I feel very humble to have this journey, which I fully accept.
So, if my experience serves as example, embrace where you are! Whether it is your nature, nurture, experience -easy or challenging- desire, passion or luck, or a combination of all, learn from your journey and continue growing. If you do not like the path you are on now, write down your vision of where you want to be, who you want to be, how you want to feel, and what it all looks like. Design it, and start taking steps to achieve those dreams. Truly, there will be times that we will feel we have taken the wrong path, and will not like where our circumstance has taken us, but one of the most beautiful things in life is that we have the opportunity to change our course if we so desire. Change is constant. Go with the flow, and believe that if you feel desire and passion to achieve a particular dream you can accomplish it. Often times we just need to reset our minds and hearts.
